{Renovation Junkies} and that's a wrap!

WOW! I can't believe it is over! After 12 weeks, we are back in our wonderful home and we couldn't be happier.

That picture up there is the main reason I wanted to renovate - my new kitchen! And I am in love.

It wasn't smooth sailing to get to the new kitchen mind you. We had decided on the kitchen, ordered it, selected colours, finishes, bench tops and appliances - way back in May. I had told the kitchen company when the builders were starting and the estimated date for them to check measure.

The time rolled around for the check measure and the kitchen company told me installation wouldn't be until February next year.

I crumbled....onto the floor in a big heaped mess. February next year!! UNACCEPTABLE.

A tear laden call to our builder and he was on the case to get their cabinet maker to do a quote and fit us in before Christmas - and success.

Hubby was charged with calling the kitchen company and telling them that we would not be proceeding as they were not in the terms of their contract - which stated installation would be 6-8 weeks after check measure. They refunded our deposit that day.

And we got our new kitchen by Christmas and the renovation was only extended by a week.

Renovating is stressful - but my advice, be super organised. Know what you want. Get out in front and make sure all the "extras" like tiles, toilets, appliances, windows, doors etc are ready to go when the builder is ready to go.

Oh and get onto a great builder - we used Sydney Select Constructions and can't recommend them enough!

What are your tips for renovating?
