Random acts of happy - 3 good things each day

This is my first random act of happy...so here goes!

Every day I am going to consciously think of three good things that have happened.

Doing this is going to allow me to focus on what is going right instead of wrong in my day. Even on a bad day, there should still be a little good in there too, no matter how small.

I'll think about things that went well, that I enjoyed or was grateful for and why.

Then I will write them down in a notebook - after a week I can look back to see if there are any themes and also to see all the good things that have happened in that week.

There is also a website, Happy Rambles, where you can have an email sent to you asking you "What are you grateful for today?". When you reply it is stored in your own private and secure on-line journal.

According to Action for Happiness people who are grateful tend to be happier, healthier and more fulfilled. In tests, people who tried this exercise each night for just one week were happier and less depressed one month, three months and six months later.

Today my three good things are:

  1. Hubby looking after the kids and letting me go back to bed this morning after still feeling the effects of my shocking migraine last night.

  2. Colouring in with my daughter and talking about things that make her happy and why storms scare her.

  3. My 10 week old son pooping twice on his own today! (This may seem an odd thing to be grateful for but the poor kid has had trouble pooping his whole life!)
I'll check back at the end of a week about this one.

What are your three good things from today?

  1. I love this idea! I've heard of a similar idea where as a family everyone writes a great memory from the week and puts it in a jar. Then on New Years eve have a read of all the great things that have happened in the year!

    1. HEY! That is a great idea! I think I will get the family to do that too.
