Stopping to smell the roses

My niece got married on the weekend.

It sounds so bizarre to say "my niece". You see my husband was a "surprise" baby, so his siblings are much older, like 18 years older. Therefore, his nieces and nephews are in their 20's and 30's now.

They are grown-ups, getting married and having babies.

So, on the weekend, my niece got married. She has been with her partner since her teens, they have two beautiful boys and now they are married.

Weddings always get me thinking about my own marriage. As I listen to the vows being spoken and watch as the love is shared, I think of the vows that we spoke on our own wedding day and wonder if we still uphold them.

I always take it as a chance to stop and smell the roses, so to speak, of my own relationship. In the hustle and bustle of life and everyday, we can often lose sight of each other, taking for granted what we have built over the years. Relationships are so important and they need nurturing. Just like a rose, they need care and attention.

When I was first married, my mum gave me an article she had found in Body&Soul magazine, it basically said you need to make time for each other, no matter what. I believe that and still do, which is why Hubby and I are always making time for each other, whether it is a date night, a night away or our nightly cuppa together.

Do you and your partner get to spend some quality time?
Do you think about your relationship at weddings?

Do you believe in fate?

What would have happened if you took the other path? or missed that train (think Gwyn P in Sliding Doors)?

My mind has been running lately. A little more than usual. I am not sure why, perhaps it is the sleepless nights. Too much time to think and ponder.

I have been thinking curious things, like, what if I didn't take the job that lead me to meet Hubby?

Would we have still meet in some other way? at a party? at the pub? speed dating?

Was it fate that we meet? Were we destined to be together? Are we part of some grand plan?

I certainly wouldn't call myself superstitious. Ladders, mirrors, black cats and Friday 13th have never plagued me at all.

But I do believe in fate. That things happen for reason.

I found the following quotes on the interwebs and they really reasonated....

Do you believe in fate?

My relationship with my phone

Apparently I am meant to be honest in this post for Blog Everyday in May, which is Describe your relationship with your phone.

Considering I find it extremely hard to lie there is no doubt this post will be completely honest.

So, my relationship with my phone.

I think of my phone, my Samsung something-or-other as another appendage. I would be lost without it.

It has Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, LinkedIn, Lync (for work calls) personal email, work email, Blog, Whatsapp, SMS, phone, camera, games for the kids, weather app, League Live and my diary.

How would I cope without all of these things? O.M.G, the thought turns me into an anxious ball of sweat!

Thankfully, I have never had to find out how I would cope. But, to be completely honest, I am sure I would be fine....wouldn't I? I would, right? Hmmm, I hope I never have to find out.

What is your relationship with your phone?
