One year on and going strong

WOW, the past year has flown! Even though at times it really didn't feel like it. Lots has happened. Projects around the house have been started, some have actually been finished. Our little miss turned five and our little man was born.

And, get this, one year ago today, I pushed the Publish button on my first ever blog post at my little space, A Life on Venus. Since then I have published 183 posts. Total amazeballs.

The blog post, which you can view here, was about my beloved Souths Sydney Rabbitohs. It was this time, one year ago, that Adam Reynolds pulled his hamstring and Souths were beaten in the finals by the Bulldogs. I was questioning, Does one player really make a difference?

Fast forward one year and I still occasionally blog about my beloved team. I even tried doing a Sunday Sports theme for a while but it didn't stick. It just didn't fit quite right. I tried other things that didn't quite stick either, like Trendy Tuesday and Random Acts of Kindness.

But that is the fun of it. Trying things and seeing if they work out.

In the past year, my little space in the blogosphere has changed and changed and then changed some more. No doubt it will continue to change and evolve as I do. I have learnt so much about myself, my writing and blogging. I have also "met" some really wonderful people.

I am not sure I have found my blog's niche or if I ever will.

I think it will always just be a place for me to write about whatever, whenever.

Has the last year flown by for you too?

Where's your head at?

You must sing Where's your head out by Basement Jaxx while reading this post, or simply watch it below.

I have been singing this all week in an attempt to figure out where my head is at?

I am still clueless.

My head is extremely heavy and foggy this week. I have had shocking headache after shocking headache. Therefore, have taken too many pain killers - probably causing that foggy, spaced out feeling.

I have been susceptible to migraines since my late teens. After numerous tests, scans etc the diagnosis was simply hormonal. Really? I must be extremely hormonal.

In my expert opinion, I think it is a combination of my dodgy back and hormones. I have seen an osteopath for about 15 years and it has helped a little. Since having kids, especially my second one, my back has become dodgier and therefore the headaches more frequent.

They exhaust and depress me and I just want to curl into a ball and ignore the world, alighting at the other end headache free. Thank you very much.

In my hazy head fog I have missed blogging this week. My two favourite blog days too, Trendy Tuesday and Wordless Wednesday. Damn headaches.

Hopefully soon I will figure out where my head is at!

Where is your head at this week?

I'm your Venus, I'm your fire...

...At your desire!

I've had a freshen up...well my blog has, even though I am probably in desperate need of one.

Hubby has been trying to think of a new banner for my blog for a couple of weeks - he wasn't a fan of the plain banner and jelly beans. He also wasn't shy in telling me that he didn't like the plain banner and jelly beans. But this is one of the reasons I love him, he is always honest with me.

There was talk of using the planet Venus in the banner, but a ball of yellowy orange really just looks like a ball of yellowy orange...see image to the right.

Discussions were had and the decision was made - Venus de Milo. It is believed that she depicts the Roman goddess, Venus, whose function encompassed love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and victory.

As soon as I heard this I thought, "yep, she's a winner". Who doesn't need some love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and victory in their lives? I know I certainly do!

She also has a sentimental element for me. I have been to the Louvre in Paris twice and both times I have taken the time to see her. She really is breath-taking.

The first time I saw her my friends wanted to show me just how breath-taking she is, we nicknamed her "The Chick with no arms". How totally uncivilised of us. In our defence we were young and dumb at the time - some would say not much has changed.

The second time I saw her was when I was honeymooning with Hubby and it was my turn to show someone her magnificence. She didn't disappoint.

Unfortunately though, now I have "I'm your Venus, I'm your Fire" by Bananarama stuck on replay in my head! And really so should you too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giQ_SwN7lz8

In case you want to belt out some Bananarama karaoke....

Goddess on the mountain top
Burning like a silver flame
The summit of beauty and love
And Venus was her name

She's got it
Yeah, baby, she's got it
I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire

Her weapons were her crystal eyes
Making every man a man
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no else had
Ow

She's got it
Yeah, baby, she's got it
I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire

She's got it
Yeah, baby, she's got it
I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire

Goddess on the mountain top
Burning like a silver flame
The summit of beauty and love
And Venus was her name

She's got it
Yeah, baby, she's got it
I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire

So did it get stuck in your head?
