Trendy Tuesday - monochrome

Just when I thought it was safe to dip my toe in the coloured denim, bright top trend pool, it appears we are back in black and white. What? So quickly the trends change, I am out of breath trying to keep up.

Black and white is a staple. I believe everyone, men, women, and kids would all have some black and white in their wardrobe. For me it is the go-to piece in your wardrobe. Isn't it?

As Spring approaches I was all excited about the bright colours I was seeing in the shop windows - that is the only shopping I am doing at the moment...window shopping. But alas it seems it is going to be replaced with monochrome.

Trendy Tuesday - Big sunglasses

This Trendy Tuesday, it is all about BIG sunglasses!

I love big, chunky sunglasses. The bigger, the better I say! I am also partial to Dolce and Gabbana. I bought my first pair of D&G's in Italy in 2005 and my second pair in Hawaii in 2011.

The trend of big sunglasses has been around for a while. And let's face it, if it is good enough for Brangelina, then it is good enough for me!

Trendy Tuesday - ankle boots

This Trendy Tuesday, I am examining the trend of ankle boots.

Years ago people wouldn't be caught dead in ankle boots that weren't covered by flarey bottomed pants.

Roll around 2013 and you aren't a fashionista if you don't have at least one pair of ankle boots to wear with all the skinny jeans, dresses, skirts or short shorts in your wardrobe. Summer or winter, ankle boots are everywhere at the moment.

They come in many styles and colours. Heel or flat. Leather or suede. Bikie or cowboy. Lace or Zip. Studded or plain. Black or red or leopard print.

I have three pairs of ankle boots. All purchased a long time ago. I would love to purchase the I Love Billy boots above, alas my strict budget doesn't allow it.

Trendy Tuesday - Hair

According to Vogue, at the moment it is trendy to drastically change your hair. Either colour or style or if you dare, both.

Vogue cites the gorgeous Anne Hathaway and her extreme bleached tresses as unexpected for the actress. But you can clearly see from the picture below that she pulls it off - is there nothing she can't do?

It has been a long while since I was daring with my hair. Probably because it has been a long while since I had a hairdresser that I trust. I used to grow it long then chop it off. I would be blonde then dark brown with red highlights. I even coloured it green once.

I love getting my hair done. It is like a fresh start.

Today, Little Miss 4 and I got our hair done. Not as drastic as Anne but nonetheless.

Trendy Tuesday - Coloured denim

This week on Trendy Tuesday I am attempting coloured denim.

I have been thinking about buying some coloured denim for a while now and the fact my four year old has several pairs has kicked me into action.

According to several fashion websites that I peruse, the coloured denim fashion trend isn't going anywhere any time soon.

After searching for inspiration from trendy celebs rocking coloured denim, I found that a lot of them seem to like red.

Attempting to take selfies of your whole body is hard, as I found out today. 

But here I am anyway, attempting to rock coloured denim by the front door.

Trendy Tuesday - Black nail polish

Sticking with the beauty trend theme from last week, I am attempting to rock black nail polish.

I have always liked painting my nails.

Way back in the day, my BFF and I used to watch episodes of Party of Five, drink coffee, smoke cigarettes and paint our nails. It was our little ritual.

According to Harpers Bazaar, when it came to nails at the New York shows it was all about black vamp shades.

Once again I looked for celebrity inspiration and found the following. If it is good enough for Selena Gomez, then it is good enough for me.

I wasn't too sure how to rock black nail polish, apart from painting it on my nails and going about my business!
