{Gluten Free} High Tea at The Tea Room

Last weekend, little miss and I took my mum and sis-in-law to High Tea. I love High Tea. Nothing beats a great cup of tea and some petit fours, does it?

However, since going gluten free I worried that my High Tea days would be over. Alas, this was not to be the case. After some Googling around the interwebs I found that The Tea Room at the QVB in Sydney catered for gluten free. Woohoo!

We arrived at 10am for our morning High Tea and little miss was very excited, to say the least. We sat at the couches and ordered our pots of tea and awaited our delectable delights. We were not disappointed.

The sweet bits were the same for both the gluten free and non-gluten free, which included a strawberry macaroon, a fruit tart, a mango passionfruit layered something-or-other and a chocolate mousse "cake".

Mum and I had gluten free scones with strawberry preserve (totally heavenly) and clotted cream, a small veggie frittata, rice paper rolls and gluten free finger sandwiches.

The service was lovely, extremely friendly and prompt. Always a bonus.

My personal favourite were the scones, perhaps because of the amount of cream I slathered on, but none the less I loved them.

High tea, friends and me

I had a day out at the Intercontinental Hotel for High Tea with some of my lovely girlfriends to celebrate the impending arrival of little Peanut.

I simply love High Tea. When doesn't a cup of tea and cake make everything better. It had been a while since I had left the house sans kids and I was craving it. I was also excited to be celebrating such a special occasion.

We each got to choose a coffee or tea from the menu selection as we sipped sparkling wine and feasted on scones, crepes, finger sandwiches, macaroons, creme brulee and waffles to name but a few of the delicacies on offer.

However, the Intercontinental was simply the place, the High Tea simply the food, the reason we got together was much more important.

Peanut is the long awaited baby for my friends Mr and Mrs Mc. They have a wonderful little man, L, who is three and Peanut is due to join the family in August.

Mrs Mc is a wonderful person and a very special lady.

In the books of our lives, we each have written a similar chapter, of course they do vary. Everyone's journey is a different one. We both struggled, for what seemed like an age, they have been long drawn out chapters. The outcome though was the same at the end (thankfully), we got the Gravy* and a little Peanut**.

I'm sure as we continue to write the chapters of our lives we will continue to be characters in each others until the very last word.

Congratulations Mrs and Mr Mc!

* Gravy is the name that Mrs Mc gave our growing little man in my tummy because Hubby had told me once, "I am so happy with our life, you, me and little miss, anything else would be gravy."

** Peanut is the name given to Mrs Mc's little one growing in her tummy.

Do you love High Tea? Do you share similar life chapters with friends?
